Although I realize this is relatively old, I had to stop and comment because you don't often see memes that actually look like the artist put some effort into 'em. I love how you've drawn the characters... the style is just so... I hesitate to use the word pretty, but the words "eye candy" come to mind when looking at the drawings. I just couldn't drag my eyes away until I'd absorbed every little detail of the drawing... that says a lot, especially because this is a meme. Thanks for sharing this!
HOMG. That KuroFay in 7... =w= My favourite character is Fay, too, that guy grew on me literally the moment I saw him <3 I'm glad to see Tomoyo getting some love! And, oh my gosh, I remember the TRC shipping wars... I blame the anime. FayChii fans just materializing everywhere the second that disaster episode was released... Beautiful art! <3
Yes, it was infuriating. Particularly for me because it was interfering with two of my favourite pairings at once. And then Vic whatever-his-second-name-is, Fay's English voice actor, decided to add to the mess with his own childish, ill-informed (and personally biased) opinions. I am so glad that CLAMP well and truly sank the FayChii ship by revealing Chii to be a copy of Fay's mother! There couldn't have been a more conclusive and brilliant end to it!
The Beetrain anime was just a totally watered down failure, I couldn't believe what I was seeing after having read the beauty that was the manga... they started 'confirming' KuroTomo to be canon as well.... OH MY GOD, WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS HOW MUCH I HATE VIC MIF*CK (Cuz I dunno how to spell his name, that should suffice). I remember we met him an London Comic Con last July, and watched him go on about how much he hated KuroFay, and there was "No gay" in Tsubasa, etc... I love CLAMP for solving the whole FayChii screw up~ (I knew you meant Vic Mif*ck, Namikawa is my God~<3)
They paid for him to be a guest at London Comic Con? Does anyone care about him that much over here (or even know who he is...)? :/ I was in Chicago for ACen last year and I found it amusing that a rather large time slot of the Sunday morning con-schedule was filled with 'Sunday morning worship with Vic M'! XD Poor you having to listen to his smug, arrogant drivel in person though! I find his statements even more annoying for the fact that he admittedly hasn't even read the manga and clearly knows nothing about CLAMP and the fact that their characters' romances frequently defy taboo and transcend gender. Even if Tsubasa were 100% 'gay free' I'd like to know why he felt the need to announce that with such vehemence to an audience of fans.... Urg. Homophobic prick. -__-;; Please never come to England ever again.
Yeah. They had to have actors that would appeal to all sorts of nerds (comic, anime...), so they called in the best known dub actor. Unfortunately, 'best known' and 'best' don't really pair up well when it comes to Vic. Ugh, do you mean those sessions where he has morning mass with his fans, or the sessions where his fans worship him? He was so full of himself when my friends were talking to him, and I couldn't help but notice that he spent a good half hour chatting with the two fans who were almost licking his feet. What annoyed me most about goddamn Funimation casting him as Fay is that they put no thought into it. They gave him a choice between characters, these being Fay and Watanuki of xxxHOLiC. The fact he was given a choice between two completely different characters pretty much verifies that they put about as much thought into their casting as one might put into picking up a spork from a table. =_=;;
It was like a Christian morning worship sesh. But yeah, considering the man seems to view himself as some sort of god amongst voice actors, it was probably combined with a heavy dose of Vic worship too. Being such a bothersome evangelist I have to wonder why he even needs to run a dedicated Sunday service when he seems to turn every regular panel into an opportunity to preach (I'm voting for a separation of church and convention!). A lot of people seem to have had the same experience as you when meeting him. Type 'vic mignogna' into Google and the second drop-down search option is 'vic mignogna homophobic'! XD I usually hate Encyclopedia Dramatica, but Vic's entry is worth a read for a few hyucks! I didn't know that about Funimation an their casting though, although given the trail of butchered anime they leave in their wake I'm not surprised. They seem to have, like, 5 voice actors on their payroll that they just recycle over and over.
The guy is unbelievable. Last time I checked, conventions aren't held in churches. It's nice to be devoted to something, but bringing your relgion along to a convention and shoving it down other people's throats is just... no. If someone came and did that was Islam, it'd probably hit the papers. Yeah, and as a result, the guy wrote on his website something like, "Not everything you read about me on the internet is true." Uh, dude, I met you. It's true. Haha, I tend to avoice Encyclopedia Dramatica like the plague, but I really enjoyed the Vic Mif*ck page~ Dubbing in general tends to be absolute failure, but Funimation's dub of Tsubasa was just apalling. I reckon Code Geass was the only half-decent dub I've ever heard.
Yeah, absolutely. I'm a secular humanist myself, but I do value the few of my friends that have religious faiths. A one is Catholic, a couple are Pagan, one is Buddhist and we get on well because they respect my position and don't try to shove theirs in my face with constant proselytizing. So I get really ticked off by people that take what should be a very dignified, private thing - faith - and are constantly turning every social occasion into a stage from which they can preach and shout about how great their chosen god(s) is(are). Vic is welcome to his Sunday Service as long as it's out of the way and doesn't interfere with the rest of the con schedule, but if I go to a panel I don't wanna hear it! >___< Are you going to London Expo in October? :0
